MY INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP - by Chandni Karia

Putra Jaya - Malaysia's version of the Pentagon

Sitting in classrooms learning about different business environments is one thing. Actually working in one of these is a completely different experience. I had the opportunity to participate in the MSC L.T. Jordan Internship and Living Abroad Program in Singapore this past summer. I interned with Straits Law Practice in the heart of the country's business sector and got to put into practice all the things I had learned at Mays. Throughout the program I made lifelong contacts, learned how to adapt to the business culture in Southeast Asia, and was introduced to the cultural differences between the U.S. and Singapore. The exposure I gained helped to shape my future career and who I am as a person. This program was the best of both worlds because along with our internships our group also got to travel to neighboring countries. We surfed in Indonesia, rode elephants in Thailand, and got to visit the Parliament building in Malaysia! I am so grateful that I got the chance to participate in this program because this experience was truly the experience of a life time.  During my internship and travels, I kept a blog, which I invite you to read ... http://ilapsingapore2011.blogspot.com/
